CAO of WNY Connects Underserved Communities with Mortgage and Rent Relief

(Buffalo, NY) –  The Community Action Organization of WNY (CAO) is helping underserved communities get connected with rent relief resources to combat the negative impact of the Covid-19 crisis. Those who qualify for various programming can receive up to $1,000 in funding assistance.

Director of Housing Development at CAO, Drew Canfield has prioritized helping families achieve stable housing during these challenging times.

“We want to make sure that families in need are receiving the assistance that makes the most sense for their unique situation,” Canfield said. “With that in mind, we urge anyone who has faced a loss in income due to Covid-19 and has past due mortgage or rent payments to review our program details to find relief that suits their housing needs.”

CAO has listed resources and applications at There, Erie County residents can find out if they are eligible for the First Month’s Rent funding (up to $1,000) or the Back Rent & Mortgage Assistance funding (up to $1,000). Residents owing more than $1,000 may be referred to the Live Well Erie program to get the maximum benefit for their circumstances (up to $3,500).
