Ulysees O. Wingo, Sr. has led change and inspired people throughout his career. He currently represents the Masten District as a Buffalo Council Member. One of his recent accomplishments has been to increase the development of new housing in Buffalo’s low-income neighborhoods. He has also worked to increase funding for the Buffalo Public Schools.

Council Member Wingo speaks for the vulnerable and takes on challenges by encouraging change with confidence, commitment, and enthusiasm. He understands the need for positive outcomes and spends the vast majority of his time engaging with faith-based initiatives & non-profit organizations, NPOs, and advocacy groups. His passion lies in empowering his community to strive for better living conditions for themselves and their communities.

Council Member Wingo’s transformational leadership style maximizes the strength of his community and propels each individual he encounters with the power to make a difference. His driving force for change is founded in his philosophy of seeing the potential in every human being and organization he encounters.

Council Member Wingo earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Houghton College and a master’s degree in public administration from Buffalo State College. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church, as well as Assistant Professor of Business at Houghton College and SUNY Erie. He has also been involved in the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program, been a Coordinator for the Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, and Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo.
