We’re Growing Our Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Program
The Early Head Start Child Care Partnership program is celebrating the start of its seventh year partnering with local childcare providers in Erie and Niagara County. The EHS-CC Partnership grant supports partnerships between EHS programs and local child care centers and family child care providers serving infants and toddlers from families with low incomes. The partnerships support working families by providing expanded access to full-day, full-year child care and comprehensive services to children and families.
Since its inception at CAO in March 2015, the EHS-CCP program has partnered with 26 childcare programs (family childcare, group family childcare, and center-based) serving 1,466 children and their families. The grant has provided quality improvement funds to purchase supplies, equipment, materials, and health & safety improvements. As well as training, technical assistance and professional development for childcare workers to create a more highly educated and fully qualified workforce providing high-quality infant/toddler care and education. All children enrolled in partnership classrooms benefit from low student-to-teacher ratios and smaller, high-quality environments supporting enhanced curriculum and instructional support.
Currently there are 10 EHSCCP childcare partners contracted with CAO. Our goal is to recruit 6 – 8 more childcare programs who are interested in raising the quality of care for the infants and toddlers they serve. At the same time, we are actively recruiting for infants and toddlers to enroll in our childcare partner schools. For more information, please call (716) 249-6493.
